Dog Toilet Training - The Simple Methods
May 19th, 2010 Tagged dog toilet training, dog training, toilet trainingHow fun would it be to find your dog toilet training so perfect that your dog can now run to the bathroom, lift the toilet seat and stand on his two hind legs and release himself?
Others being jealous of you and your dog would not be far fetched.
Or if your female dog was so bright that you found her squatting on the toilet as you passed by the bathroom?
Although this may not be possible, there actually is a product made for your dog to release themselves and it is considered to be a dog toilet.
Though this may be, when most people speak of dog toilet training, they are really talking about house breaking your new addition.
The act of doing this really has nothing to do with a toilet. It is usual and customary to want to teach you dog to release themselves outside.
I know I know…
I say using the bathroom even though it has nothing to do with any part of a bathroom. The phrase is one that I use often so for the sake of the article I will remain using it.
Anyway, it is most common to train them to go outdoors because this will stop you from having to clean up and disinfect your house from bad smells due to your dog using the bathroom indoors.
Some people consider dog toilet training the act of giving your pet a designated area indoors, where he is allowed to release himself.
A great idea would be to lie some paper on the floor and teach them to use this as this would eliminate having to mop and pick up poop and urine from the floor daily.
Always be consistent no matter what method you use. Do not wander away from your techiniques or this can cause confusion to the puppy.
Causing this confusion will lead him to regression and he may use the bathroom anywhere other than the designated area. This can involve into another problem as he may get use to using another area even if he only does it once.
You then will have no choice but to retrain him in your methods of dog toilet training, which will then be a waste of precious time. Avoiding deviation will result in you having a successfull potty trained puppy.
